Charlton Kings Junior School

The aim of our Charlton Kings Junior School uniform is:

  • to promote pride in our school along with promoting a shared identity
  • to help our children feel part of our school community
  • to be practical and comfortable but smart, whilst setting a high standard of appearance
  • to allow our children to feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance

UNIFORM

Children may wear branded or unbranded uniform.  This is your choice as a parent.  

Unbranded uniform is obtainable from most high street clothing retailers and supermarkets.  

Branded uniform, with the school logo, can be purchased from: Monkhouse website

Monkhouse stock and supply all our uniform and are based at 252 High Street, Cheltenham.  Their shop opening times are Mon-Sat 10am-5pm, and Sun 10am-4pm.  

  • Polo shirt:  light blue
  • Sweatshirt/Cardigan: claret (branded of unbranded)
  • Trousers/Shorts/Skorts/Skirt/Pinafore Dress:  grey 
  • Dresses:  light blue/red check/stripe
  • Tights:  black, claret, grey or white
  • Socks:   black, claret, grey or white 

Our PTA sells good quality second hand uniform to raise money for the school.

FOOTWEAR

Sensible, sturdy, black school shoes; velcro or lace fastenings.

No slip-on shoes or boots allowed.

Trainers are not allowed as normal footwear.

OUTERWEAR

Children should have a suitable waterproof coat with a hood to wear outdoors when the weather permits.

Sun hats are encouraged to be worn at playtimes in the summer. 

Parents should apply suntan lotion to their children before school - weather permitting. Suntan lotion should not be brought into school.

HAIR

All children with long hair will be required to tie it back.

JEWELLERY

Only small stud earrings are allowed to be worn at school.  No other jewellery is allowed.

Please note that earrings should be removed for all PE lessons. If this is not possible, children should cover their earrings with tape as stated in the ‘Safe Practice in Physical Education’ document – AfPE.

Wrist watches may be worn by the children.  School cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage.  Watches will need to be removed when in PE lessons.

Smart watches are not allowed in school.

MAKE-UP

No make up or nail varnish to be worn within school.

PE KIT

  • T-Shirt:  house colour (No football or team kits)
  • Shorts:  blue or black 
  • Jogging Bottoms:  blue or black 
  • Trainers 
  • Shin pads
  • Gum shields – Year 5 & 6 only

Please ensure that the children’s clothes are placed in a named drawstring bag. Every item of PE kit should be named. The children should keep their PE kit in school at all times, taking it home each half term to be washed.

SWIMWEAR

  • Swimming costume: no bikinis
  • Swimming shorts: no board-style shorts
  • Large towel
  • Swimming cap (for children with long hair)
  • Goggles (optional)
